Crown Camp Privacy Policy
Crown Camp does not collect, store, or share any personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.
What the app does
Crown Camp shows what Ontario's published land-tenure and land-use policy data says about places on Lake of the Woods. All of that data is included in the app when you download it, and every check runs on your iPhone. Nothing you tap or look up is sent to us or anyone else.
Your location
The app asks for your location only when you tap Check My Location, and only while you are using the app. It takes a single position, checks it against the data on your iPhone, and shows the result. Your location is:
- never saved, on your iPhone or anywhere else;
- never sent to us or to any other party;
- never collected in the background, since the app does not ask for background location.
You can turn location access off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Crown Camp. The rest of the app works without it.
What is stored on your iPhone
The app keeps two small settings on your iPhone, and never sends them anywhere:
- a record that the bundled data passed its integrity check, so it does not have to be re-checked every time the app opens;
- a record that you accepted the first-launch notice, so it is not shown again.
Deleting the app deletes both.
Apple's map framework
The map is drawn from the data built into the app. It is displayed using MapKit, a map component that Apple includes in iOS. Apple, not Crown Camp, handles any network requests MapKit makes, and they are covered by Apple's privacy policy. Crown Camp does not receive any information from them.
Links to other businesses
Some resorts, camps, and marinas shown on the map include a phone number, email address, or website. If you tap one, your iPhone opens the Phone, Mail, or Safari app. Anything you share after that is between you and that business, under their own privacy practices.
Children
Crown Camp does not collect any personal information, including from children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app handles information differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
